By downloading, buying or using CastCut you agree to these terms. CastCut is made by Dustine Jao, an independent developer in the Philippines (we, us).
License
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CastCut on up to two Macs you own or control, for your own episodes and your clients' work. The free trial includes 2 exports. Weekly, monthly and annual plans renew until you cancel, and you can cancel any time from your Polar account and keep CastCut until the end of the period you paid for. The founding license is a one-time purchase that includes every 1.x update.
What you may not do
Except where the law allows it despite this limit, you may not:
- copy, sell, rent, lend, share or sublicense CastCut or your license key;
- modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer CastCut, or try to get at its source code;
- get around, disable or tamper with the license checks or the free trial;
- use CastCut, its documentation or this website to build a competing product.
Ownership
CastCut, its code, design, name and logo, and this website belong to Dustine Jao and are protected by copyright and other laws. Your license lets you use CastCut; it does not transfer any ownership of it.
Your work
Everything you make with CastCut is yours. CastCut writes timelines that point to your original media and never changes those files.
Automatic results
Edits, finished videos, transcripts, captions, translations and moments are made automatically and can contain mistakes. Always check them before you publish.
Other people's software
CastCut includes open-source software and AI models made by others, each under its own license. They are listed in the app under Settings, About, Open-source notices, and those licenses apply to those parts.
Payments and refunds
Payments are handled by Polar, our merchant of record, which also handles sales tax and VAT, and its terms cover the purchase itself. If CastCut is not right for you, ask within 14 days of purchase for a full refund. A price change never applies to a period you have already paid for.
Ending a license
You can stop using CastCut at any time. We may end a license that is used against these terms, for example a shared or resold key.
No warranty
CastCut is provided as is, without warranties, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits or data, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for CastCut in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer law where you live.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live.
Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and the terms in force when you paid apply to that payment.
Trademarks
Final Cut Pro, Mac, iPhone, iPad and AirDrop are trademarks of Apple Inc., Premiere Pro of Adobe, and DaVinci Resolve of Blackmagic Design. TikTok is a trademark of ByteDance, Instagram and Reels of Meta, YouTube and YouTube Shorts of Google, and Spotify of Spotify AB. CastCut is independent and not affiliated with any of them.
